[email to attendees, March 5, 2009]
As promised, here is a first offer for those libraries who participated in the program on Tuesday.
We are interested in working with a few libraries of varying sizes who would like to expand their readers' advisory services. We would specifically like to work with libraries that would help us test out a variety of ways to raise awareness of Novelist, Next Reads and library readers' advisory services among library customers.
Methods we would like you to try out would include:
- Reader’s Advisory Banners and posters in the library
- Direct links to Novelist/NextReads on the library home page
- Takeaways like flyers and bookmarks in the library or other settings
- Buttons for staff to wear to alert your customers about your readers’ advisory services. For options, see below.
- Special readers’ advisory training for your staff
- Potentially the opportunity to film your customers who elect to tell you about a book they have read and enjoyed
If your library is interested, please
1. Let me know your opinion of the slogan for staff buttons that is most likely to elicit a response from your customers. Do you like:
· Tell me about a book…
· Looking for your next book?
· Let me help you find your next great read.
Each has their advantages. What do you think?
Please let me know your response to the “test question” and whether your library may be interested in participating. KH
March 23 Update. We have heard from the following libraries who have expressed interest in participating in the pilot:
